Eungai, pronounced "Yoong guy," was our previous property's name; it is an Aboriginal word meaning 'singing waters' due to the musical creeks that run through. I am very fortunate to have lots of space for my animals to race around, lawn to scratch their backs on, fruit trees to snack from and tarmac to race after balls at breakneck speed. On top of that there are so many beautiful walks in the area my dogs, and I, are very fortunate.
My old boy Dougal, passed aged 18 due to lymphoma and will always be with me in my heart. Although I believe that rescuing is a wonderful choice, and should be one that is seriously considered, it is not always the best for the those that re home the dog. My rescue guys have all had issues that had to be sorted to enable us to live happily together. When Dougal came home with me, I had very little background on him and wondered why anyone would give up such a beautiful creature. It didn't take me long to find out, and he soon became known as DESTRUCTO DOUGAL! Not everyone has the time, money for specialised training, or patience to help dogs who have not been properly socialised, trained correctly or traumatised and badly treated. After years of research and finally owning a labradoodle, I decided they are, without doubt the best dogs around.
I am teacher who specialises in assisting children with dyslexia, and I have a special connection with children and animals. I strongly believe that every family should have a dog, having seen the difference that a dog can make to people, especially children with special needs. Dogs are wonderful enablers; they provide social support, instigating interaction with others, encourage a healthy lifestyle, assist with teaching empathy, stimulate language development as well as provide unconditional love.
The reason I love labradoodles is that they are unique; I adore their scruffy look, their wonderful coats, intelligence and intuitive temperament. Not to forget to mention the fact that THEY DON'T SHED HAIR - which is a huge benefit. The only down side is that you don't always know if they have been on the couch, as there are no tell tell hairy signs, unless of course you catch them in the act as I did in the photo below!
I hope that I can help you find your wonderful companion.
I truly believe that they are The Perfect Dog.
